Gay Community in Bristol
Bristol is home to four annual gay festivals and two separate villages. The village in the West End is home to OMG, the South West’s biggest gay venue. The other village, in the Old Market Quarter, has an array of bars and restaurants that play host to a wide range of events. Both are packed with friendly nightspots, making it easy to go out and meet new people.
There is also a strong sense of community and fun in Bristol, with social groups like Sing Out Bristol – an LGBT choir group open to anyone who loves to sing – always looking to welcome new members.
Gay Community in Manchester
Canal Street in Manchester is probably the most well know gay village outside of London and, with over 40 venues to choose from, deservedly so. Whether you want to hit the dance floor at Cruz 101 or have a more unique experience at The Eagle Manchester, there is something for everyone. Not only is Canal Street a good place for a great time, the excellent canal-street website provides news on local events, recommendations for upcoming shows and even advice and guidance.
Outside of the nightlife, there are also a number of social and support groups in and around the city, such as Outdoor Lads and Icebreakers Manchester, which provide an alternative way of meeting like-minded people.
Gay Community in Edinburgh
Heading north of the border and into Edinburgh is a great experience for anybody. As you may expect from such a cosmopolitan town, there is an excellent gay scene here. Not far from Prince’s Street, the city’s main drag, lies the famous Pink Triangle, home to the fantastically fun CC Blooms nightclub and traditional and relaxed Regent Bar. There is a friendly and chilled out vibe throughout the whole village, and all of the bars and clubs are in walking distance of one another.
Gay Community in Birmingham
England’s second city has a vibrant gay scene. Not only does Brum house the famous bars and clubs of Hurst Street, it is also the home of the Gay and Lesbian Pride Ball and a massive annual Birmingham Pride event.
